My wife's grandfather recovered from WWII injuries at the Norconian. Pitser "Pitt" Paul Pittman was shot down in 1943 over Guadalcanal and was sent to the Norconian. There he met one of the nurses staffed to him, Eulalia "Lala" Collins . They fell in love at the Norconian and were married. A Marine fighter pilot recovering and a Navy nurse that met at the Norconian would eventually have three kids and six grandchildren - all products of the war and the Narconian! Please don't let this place crumble, I would love to visit it one day in all it's former glory.

I grew up in Corona, and moved to Norco for several years early in my marriage. I worked as a staffer on the lake in 1996, part of the Girl Scouts summer day camp program. I've sat and just watched the sun set behind it many times. Really a beautiful place, I hope the preservation efforts come together.

I did not work here but lived here on the base as a 6 to 10 year old child. My dad was the Chief of Medicine at the Naval Hospital from summer of 1953 until it closed in 1957. I must say that living in Norco and on the base were just about the best years of my childhood. It was so special. The Pavillion was where we would have the base Christmas parties and my parents attended many-a-party in that lovely place on the lake...to read that it had maple floors (from the book's first pages). Now I have to get the book along with "The Navy in Norco". Quite a wonderful and totally unique Navy Hospital!!

I used to go swimming at the big pool around 1943. My friend Virgil (whose father ran the Naval Hospital kitchen) had a pass and we would hike from his house near Snake Hill over to the pool. They would do recreations of East coast ball games out by the pool for the patients.Never heard of the Norconian Resort until just recently. Great story.

I was an inmate at CRC in 1990, I spent a year there. I remember what it all looked like, I worked the better part of my sentence in the kitchen in the Hotel. While there I always wondered if these walls could talk. I've done about of research on the old place. Preserve it at all cost. Such a lovely place, I also worked as a Hall Janitor, the long corridors were amazing.
